PURPOSE: A method for controlling an air conditioner for a vehicle is provided to maximize air conditioning ability by controlling ECV duty and to increase ECV duty when necessary. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an air conditioner for a vehicle is as follows. ECV calculation duty for controlling the discharged amount of refrigerants of a compressor is calculated. The compressor is controlled by outputting the calculated ECV calculation duty to ECV control duty. When the ECV calculation is approached to a critical value, the compressor is controlled by maximally increasing the ECV control duty.
