<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometric identification device for improving precision of biometric identification. <P>SOLUTION: The main component of multi-dimensional correlation data related to correlation of a biological pattern acquired from a plurality of biological samples are analyzed. The first main component axis of correlation data distribution related to the same biological sample and the first component axis of correlation data distribution related to different biological samples are determined. One-dimensional data related to each distribution are generated by projecting the multi-dimensional correlation data on the first main component axis of each distribution. A Mahalanobis distance from the center of distribution of each distribution to each point of one-dimensional data is calculated on the first main component axis of each distribution. A determination reference value related to the Mahalanobis distance for discriminating the same biological sample from the different biological samples is determined on the basis of the Mahalanobis distance of each distribution calculated regarding the plurality of biological samples. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
