PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device with which the wrinkle of a recording material and image disturbance on an end are hardly caused by performing a heating treatment in which outward tension conditions for a recording material are made even from the beginning of consecutive image formation to the end thereof. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with central part cooling fans 31 and 32 for sending currents of air to the central part of a pressure roller 3 in the axial direction, thereby cooling it from outside. In a state that the pressure roller 3 is separated from a fixing roller 2, the central part cooling fans 31 and 32 are actuated, and control is performed so that in a temperature distribution of the pressure roller 3, the temperature of the central part is equal to or smaller than the temperature of the end part. Subsequently, the central part cooling fans 31 and 32 are stopped, and the initial heating treatment in consecutive image formation is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
