The method involves installing tires (100) on a rim, and rotating the tires on the rim at a roller axis. Surface areas of rotary tires are measured with specific tire filling pressure by measuring devices (20, 30, 40), and a mechanical load is suspended by producing centrifugal and/or contact pressures acting on the tires, where fluctuation of the tire filling pressure amounts to 0.4 bar. Deformation of the tires is determined from two measurements based on the mechanical load, and the tire pressure of the tires is regulated actively during the two measurements. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing tires.
