The present invention provides a method, a core network device, and a base station subsystem for releasing local switching, wherein the method includes: when receiving the first message for requesting handover from the first base station subsystem, determining that the first call leg of the two call legs after handover will be located in the second base station subsystem, and allocating core network resources for the two call legs; sending the second message for requesting handover to the second base station subsystem, wherein the core network resources allocated for the first call leg of the two call legs is carried in the second message; when receiving the third message returned from the second base station subsystem for indicating a handover request acknowledge, sending the fourth message for instructing to perform handover operation to the first base station subsystem, wherein the instruction information for releasing local switching between the two call legs and the allocated core network resources information are carried in the fourth message. The method does not require adding extra flow of releasing local switching, and it can save execution time of the flow and save the number of messages at A interface.
