<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode wherein a using amount of such a noble metal as platinum which is used in the catalyzer of a solid-state molecular electrolyte type fuel cell is reduced, an output characteristic is increased, and furthermore, durability is improved, and to provide the solid-state molecular electrolyte type fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode comprises a gas diffusion layer containing a fiber carbon material, and a catalyzer layer which is formed at the single side of the gas diffusion layer and contains catalyzer particles and a solid-state molecular electrolyte. The catalyzer has active carbon as a carbon carrier, and carries catalyzer particles containing Pt. The surface area S<SB>BET</SB>of the active carbon which is obtained by BET evaluation satisfies a relation of S<SB>BET</SB>≥1,500 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The ratio of the surface areas S<SB>micro</SB>(m<SP>2</SP>/g) of micropores having diameters of 2 nm or smaller to with respect to total pore area S<SB>total</SB>(m<SP>2</SP>/g) satisfies a relation of S<SB>micro</SB>/S<SB>total</SB>≥0.5. The electrode of the solid-state molecular electrolyte type fuel cell is characterized by satisfying these relations. Furthermore, the solid-state molecular electrolyte type fuel cell uses the electrode in at least one of an anode and a cathode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
