PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical damage avoidance apparatus which avoids optical damage caused by spike-like oscillations due to turning on and off of an excitation means. SOLUTION: The optical damage avoidance apparatus for laser apparatus includes an oscillating part excitation means 2 which is connected to an external power and excites a gain medium 11 of an oscillating part 1; an amplifying part excitation means 4 which is connected to external power and excites gain medium 3 of an amplifying part for amplifying laser beam from the oscillating part 1; and a connection/disconnection control means 5, which connects the order of connecting the oscillating part excitation means 2 and the amplifying part excitation means 4 to the external power and/or disconnecting them from the external power, wherein the connection/disconnection control means 5 first connects the oscillating part excitation means 2, at the time of connection and firstly disconnects the amplifying part excitation means 4, at disconnection.
