PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting coil wherein quenching is hard to occur. SOLUTION: The superconducting coil 100 has a spool 1 including a drum 11 and a pair of flanges 12 and 13 extending in a radial outside direction from axial directional both edges of the drum 11 and facing each other, a coil 2 formed by a wire rod wound around the drum 11 in a region sandwiched by the pair of flanges 12 and 13, the wire rod composed of a material with a coefficient of linear expansion smaller than that of the spool 1, and a spacer 3 prepared between this coil 2 and the flange 12, wherein being impregnated by adhesive, the spool 1, the coil 2, and the spacer 3 are so constructed as to be mutually agglutinated. The spacer 3 is composed of a material with a coefficient of linear expansion larger than that of the spool 1, and has such an axial directional thickness that, while cooling off the temperature of the excitation operation, it has an adequate heat shrinkage amount resulting from the cooling to generate the axial directional peel-off between the spacer 3 and the flange 12.
