PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, when affixing a sheet to a bottom surface of a recess of a conventional escalator, a plurality of sheet pieces cut in a short strip shape to the size of the bottom surface of the recess must be successively affixed to the bottom surface of the recess of a step or a riser, the affixing work of the sheet pieces is complicated and a working time is long, and wasteful labor and time, and wasteful cost are required. SOLUTION: Before affixing a sheet piece with predetermined information formed thereon to a bottom surface of a recess of a step or a riser, an adhesive tape is adhered to the surface of the sheet piece so that the predetermined information of the sheet piece is not diversified, the peelable paper of the sheet piece is peeled off more than a part of the adhesive tape, the sheet piece is set to the affixing position of the recess, and the sheet piece of the part with the peelable paper which is more peeled off is pressed against the bottom surface of the recess by a pressing member. Then, the affixing position of the bottom surface of the recess of the sheet piece is identified.
