PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling ants without directly making the ants into contact with an agent, and to provide the agent for controlling the ants. SOLUTION: The method for controlling the ants is characterized by using an 8 to 12C isoparaffinic hydrocarbon as an active ingredient, allowing the active ingredient to exist in an ant-living area or its near place, and naturally vaporizing the active ingredient in air; and the agent for controlling the ants is characterized by containing the 8 to 12C isoparaffinic hydrocarbon liquid at normal temperature as an active ingredient.
