PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor capable of attaining high reliability and high efficiency, by preventing forced contact between a piston and a compression space. SOLUTION: In this hermetic compressor, a compression element stored in a sealed vessel has a shaft 110 having a main shaft part 111 and an eccentric shaft part 112, a bering part 120, a cylinder block 114 having the compression space 115, and a connecting rod. Assuming an angle formed by the first center line 141 of indicating the axis of the bearing part 120 and the second center line 142 of indicating the axis of the compression space asα, the piston has a tapered part 171 formed so as to increase an inside diametrical dimension toward the side positioned inn the bottom dead center from the side positioned in the top dead center. Assuming an angle formed by the axis of the piston and the axis of the compression space when an outer peripheral surface of the piston slidingly moves along the tapered part 117 asδ, an angle formed by the axis of the compression space 115 and the tapered part 117 is set as a design value ofδexpressed by the following (numerical expression 2).
