<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of distortion compensation and to shorten the convergence time by generating a distortion compensation signal accurately at high speed when performing predistortion compensation for a power amplifier. Ž<P>SOLUTION: By using an error signal representing a difference between an input signal and an output signal of a power amplifier and the input signal, a coefficient concerning the third-order intermodulation distortion, a coefficient concerning the fifth-order intermodulation distortion, and a coefficient concerning the seventh-order intermodulation distortion are calculated (32) and a distortion compensation signal having reverse characteristics of the phase and gain of the intermodulation distortion is generated according to the coefficients (33).
