<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead deposition prevention mat capable of preventing moss-like lead from depositing on a group of electrode plates by a simple method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lead deposition prevention mat has a hole penetrating from a lower face to a top face, which is a tapered hole getting narrower from the lower side toward the top side such that moss-like lead can pass through the hole from the lower side toward the top side, while, it cannot pass from the top side toward the lower side. Moreover, the lead deposition prevention mat is further provided with a short circuit prevention means for preventing moss-like lead from forming a bridge between a cathode plate and an anode plate on a top face of the lead deposition prevention mat, after moss-like lead has passed through the hole from the lower side toward the top side.
