A measuring instrument comprises a housing 14, an antenna and a 'functional member' for converting a measurand into a metered value (e.g. temperature, pressure, flow or fill-level), wherein part of the housing and/or functional member form a component of the antenna. The antenna may transmit the metered value via a radio signal. The housing may include a metallic ground plane or two metallic dipoles of the antenna. The antenna 13 may be printed onto the glass of an observation window 11 or be provided on a plastic portion of the housing. The functional member may include a pointer and dial with the antenna formed on the dial, e.g. by a conductive paste; alternatively the pointer 12 may be in the form of an antenna. The instrument may be a monometer with the antenna formed by a Bourdon spring and/or return spring. |
