Class 87 (2) Within the channel 10 through which plastic material is forced by an extruder 1 is disposed the tapering tip 5b of a core 5, and within the tip is disposed an electrical heating element 17. As shown, the heating element extends rearwardly into the body of the core and is supported by a tube 7 maintained in place by member 23. The element is connected by leads 18, 19 to a source 20 of electrical energy. The element heats the material in channel 10 and also heats the conductor 6. An electrical heater 15 surrounds the die 8. |
