<p>The present invention relates to a process which consists of obtaining diesel fuel from vegetable oils or animal fats by adding hydrogen in the presence of catalysts at appropriate temperatures and pressures. The process disclosed herein differs from other similar processes in that it presents spatial velocities between 5.1 h -1 and 9.0 h -1 , which reduces the reactor size and hydrogen consumption, thus reducing the equipment's building and operation costs. Also, it is a part of the invention the products obtained by said process, which have shown that even when added in amounts lower than 10% by weight, improve the performance of diesel engines, lowering fuel consumption.</p> |
