[Also in Group V] Material such as rubber is reclaimed by forcing it through an extrusion head 42 (see Group V) by means of a screw which comprises: a feeding section having a tapered stem to form valleys of decreasing depth between the threads, a forcing section, a plasticizing section, an intermediate forcing section, and final plasticizing and forcing sections. The threads in the feeding and forcing sections have steep sides 22, 221 running into flat bearing surfaces 23. The thread in the plasticizing section has gradually sloping forward surfaces 24 merging into rounded bearing surfaces 25. Detailed dimensions of the screw are included in the Specification. |
