The device (D) has a processing module (MT) processing data constituting video images of a front zone (ZA) situated in front of a motor vehicle i.e. car (VA), to form a set of data constituting a main image representing the front zone. A calculation module (MC) determines another set of data constituting a complementary image representing a position of the vehicle and a complementary zone that is partially situated behind the front zone, from the former set of data. The latter set of data is displayed via a display screen (EA) in a part that is complementary to another part. An independent claim is also included for a method for providing images to a passenger of a motor vehicle provided with a screen.
