METHOD OF REMOVING AMMONIUM AND PHOSPHATE IONS FROM WASTEWATER USING BOROSILICATE GLASS COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: A method of removing ammonium and phosphate ions from wastewater is provided to increase the removal efficiency of the ammonium ion. CONSTITUTION: A method of removing ammonium and phosphate ions from wastewater is comprised of the steps: controlling the PH of wastewater including ammonium ion and phosphate ion to be 2 ~ 4; reacting borosilicate system glass composition of siO2 10 ~ 40 mole %, B2O3 20 ~ 50 mole %, and na2O 10 ~ 35 mole % and MgO 5 ~ 30 mole % with the waste water to extract struvite crystal including ammonium ion and phosphate ion; and removing ammonium ion and phosphate ion from the wastewater.
