A reflector unit 15 adapted to emit or reflect light is cleaned by fluid adapted to be fed from a sump 11. The unit 15 is mounted in a pre-cast concrete kerb block 10 which is provided with a cast-iron cover 12 having locating flanges 12a, 12b. The flange 12b is slotted to receive the flange 10a of a reflector carrying bracket 14 which is housed in a recess 10b formed in the front wall of the sump and a recess 12d formed in the central protuberance 12e of the cover. The protuberance has apertures 12 f which communicate with a central opening for locating the reflector unit and allowing rain water to drain into the sump by way of channels 12h. The sump may have an additional or an alternative source of water supply. The upper part of the bracket 14 is triangular in cross-section and has a rib 14b adapted to be received in a recess 12j in the cover. A vehicle passing over a circular, rubber reservoir 16 mounted in a cast iron casing 17 feeds water through a nozzle 16a and pipes 18, 23 to the reflectors. The pipe 23 is brazed to the bracket 14, 14a and terminates in a nozzle 23a which may be detachable. The pipe 18 is provided with an extension 18a for refilling the reservoir, non- return valves 24, 25 being incorporated in the circuit as shown.</p> |
