<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an increase in burden on control by facilitating the address management of image data along with a higher performance effect during the variable display. <P>SOLUTION: Data for display are updated so as to display or delete an advance notice performance image gradually with the passage of time. The image element data corresponding to an image element with a higher display frequency is previously read out of a CGROM to be transferred to a fixed address area in response to the reception of a beforehand transfer command. The image element data read out of a read out address of the fixed address area in response to the reception of a fixed address designation display command are written and stored into a frame buffer memory. Other image element data are read out of the CGROM in response to the reception of an automatic transfer display command to be transferred to an automatic transfer area.
