Titanium tetrachloride and phosphorus oxychloride are recovered from a stable complex of these substances obtained as a residue in the distillation of impure phosphorus trichloride (see Specification 805,153), by first replacing the phosphorus oxychloride with phosphorus pentachloride to release the phosphorus oxychloride, and then replacing the titanium tetrachloride with ferric chloride to release the titanium tetrachloride. The first operation is carried out between 85 DEG and 140 DEG C., and the second operation is carried out between 100 DEG and 239 DEG C.
|
