878,984. Securing cams on shafts. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 27, 1957 [Jan. 24, 1957], No. 4314/60. Divided out of 878,983. Class 80 (2). Cams 21 ... 27 arranged in a stack and used in an ornamental stitch sewing machine are located circumferentially relatively to each other by a pin 34 passing through holes 36 therein, tightening screws 33 received in tapped holes in a sleeve 17 rotating about a fixed stud 18 gripping the cams frictionally between a capping plate 31 and a shoulder 19 on the sleeve, an additional cam 68 having a hole 71 receiving the end of the pin 34 and being detachably retained on the capping plate by a spring 58. The arrangement is such that the operator of the sewing machine can grasp a knob 73 integral with the cam 68, pull the cam away from the stack of cams 21 ... 27 and replace it with another cam 68 having a different profile. The spring 58 is retained freely against the capping plate 31 by a screw 43 threaded into a tapped hole 51 in the fixed stud 18. |
