PURPOSE: A composition containing Albizzia julibrissin extract is provided to suppress matrix metalloproteinase activity without side effects and to prevent and treat periodontal diseases and skin aging. CONSTITUTION: A matrix metalloproteinase extract suppresses matrix metalloproteinase(MMP) activity. The matrix metalloproteinase is a collagenase. The Albizzia julibrissin extract is isolated using purified water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol, acetone, glycerol, propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, methylacetate, ethylacetate, chloroform, diethyl ether, dichloromethane, or hexane.
