In a rotary disc valve for a rotary suction filter and comprising superposed, ported, seat and obturating members, the seat member is provided with one or more shutters 16, 21 which can be actuated from outside the valve casing to adjust the end limits of one of the ports and so vary its effective area. The shutters shown are radial and work in a recess which extends from the two ends of the port 8. Shutter 16 is carried by a rotatable ring 17 which is provided with a handle 19 and carries a cover 20 for the slot in which the handle moves, and shutter 21 is carried by a central shaft 24 which is extended to the rear of the valve and carries an operating handle 25. Oil retaining grooves 14 in the face of the seating plate are provided for lubrication purposes. The invention is shown as applied to a filter of the drum type wherein the obturating disc is formed on the face of one of the drum trunnions and the seating disc is carried by a head member to abut against the obturating disc. The compartments of the drum are connected by conduits through the trunnion to the ports in the obturating disc, and the ports in the seating disc are connected to sources of maxmum suction, reduced suction, and compressed air. |
