PURPOSE: An information search system for a variant form of a Chinese character is provided to classify Chinese characters into representative characters, variant form characters, and abbreviated characters, thereby easily checking character shapes not correct characters. CONSTITUTION: A Chinese character of a search target is inputted through a Chinese character input management unit(25). A Chinese character search unit(26) compares the inputted Chinese character with Chinese characters stored in a representative character, a variant form character, and an abbreviated character. The Chinese character search unit selects a representative character, a variant form character, and an abbreviated character for a matched Chinese character. If the Chinese is inputted through the Chinese character search unit, a searched Chinese character management unit displays information of a representative character, a variant form character, and an abbreviated character of Chinese similar to the searched Chinese character.
