<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving image encoding apparatus and a moving image decoding apparatus capable of reducing a code amount to the prediction mode of a color difference signal to thereby improve the efficiency of encoding. <P>SOLUTION: In the moving image encoding apparatus 1, a luminance prediction mode decision unit 11 determines a luminance prediction mode, a color difference prediction mode prediction value calculation unit 12 calculates a color difference prediction mode prediction value on the basis of the luminance prediction mode, a color difference prediction mode decision unit 13 determines a color difference prediction mode, a color difference prediction mode decision flag output unit 14 determines matching or mismatching between the color difference prediction mode prediction value and the color difference prediction mode and outputs a color difference prediction mode decision flag, a variable length encoding unit 15 encodes the luminance prediction mode and the color difference prediction mode decision flag in variable length when the color difference prediction mode decision flag is "matching", and it encodes the luminance prediction mode, the color difference prediction mode decision flag and color difference prediction mode in variable length when the color prediction mode decision flag is "mismatching", and it outputs bit stream. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
