<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read out card data from each of a plurality of superimposed cards 50. <P>SOLUTION: A game apparatus 10 extracts card data stored in a memory area exposed to the back side of a flat panel 16a, of card data stored in a plurality of cards 50 superimposed and laid on the flat panel 16a, from the back side of the flat panel 16a, and stores the extracted card data in a memory 14 to control the progress of a game based on the stored card data.
