摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostrictive measurement system (10) having encoded polarized magnetic regions (20, 22, 24 and 26) disposed circumferentially about a shaft, wherein adjacent magnetic regions along part of the shaft have opposing polarities. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the shaft is hollow, and encoding is internally provided. In another embodiment, the encoding is on an external surface of the shaft. The system has one or more sensors (240 and 250) such as contact sensors disposed about the shaft, which enable measurement of at least one of bending moment and torque sensing. The sensor also includes a non-contact sensor (275) for measuring magnetic flux density caused by alternating magnetic fields from a rotating shaft. A processing part (295) is used to process the sensor measurement, and the sensor measurement is used to compute at least one of shaft electric power, torque, speed, and bending moment.
