<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a technology that a user can recognize a device capable of decrypting and reproducing encrypted content data and, as a result, convenience in utilization and management of content data can be improved. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A content recording and reproducing apparatus is capable of recording content data on a recording medium and reproducing the recorded content data, and includes: an encryption means for encrypting content data to be recorded on the recording medium; a guide video creating means which creates guide video data for indicating a reproduction-enabled device capable of decrypting and reproducing the encrypted content data; and an addition means for adding to the encrypted content data the guide video data in such a format as to reproduce the content data even on any other device than the reproduction-enabled device.
