<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronous electric motor that reduces a magnetic attraction force in the radial direction generated at a rotating shaft, and can suppress the lowering of a torque output by the synchronous electric motor, while the synchronous electric motor has nine slots at a stator and eight magnetic poles formed by permanent magnets at a rotor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this synchronous electric motor 300, the synchronous electric motor 300 includes the stator 10 having nine slots 13, and the rotor 20 having eight magnetic poles formed by the permanent magnets 21. On the surface of the rotor 20 which opposes the stator 10, the vicinity of the center of the magnetic pole is made longer in distance between the stator 10 and itself compared with that of the other part.
