<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white balance adjusting device for adjusting white balance of a photographic screen with precision suitably following up even change of a photographic scene with simple constitution. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The white balance adjusting device includes an evaluation area moving means 6 of sequentially moving the position of an evaluation frame in an imaging area with time and setting the image area within the moved evaluation frame as an evaluation area, an achromatic color evaluated value generating means 7 of generating an achromatic color evaluated value for each evaluation area, an achromatic color determining means 8 of determining whether an image in the evaluation area is achromatic by comparing the achromatic color evaluated value with a predetermined determination value, a light source estimating means 10b of estimating the type of a lighting source based upon color information on the evaluation area determined to be achromatic, and a color reproduction coefficient calculating means 10c of calculating a parameter of white balance correction according to the estimated type of the lighting source, wherein white balance adjustment is made on the color information of the imaging area based upon the calculated parameter of the white balance.
