PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a simplified structure to transfer transfer medium having holes formed in various geometries. SOLUTION: The transfer device 20 includes: a transfer means transferring transfer medium along a transfer route; a sensor 25 detecting the presence or absence of transfer medium placed in the transfer route; and a control device controlling a transfer of transfer medium based on a time point at which at least one of a leading end and a trailing end of transfer medium passes across the sensor 25. The control device 30 acquires information indicating as to whether transfer medium has the holes, upon which, when transfer medium has no hole, the time point is specified based on an output of the sensor 25 and, when transfer medium has the holes, the time point is estimated based on information related to the transfer of transfer medium.
