Polymeric reagents comprising a polymer attached, either directly or through one or more atoms, to a ketone or a related functional group such as ketone hydrate, thione, monothiohydrate, dithiohydrate, hemiketal, monothiohemiketal, dithiohemiketal, ketal, or dithioketal are provided.
