PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera for reducing the unexpected power consumption of the electronic camera by preventing the camera from being operated by inputting a start instruction that a user does not intend. SOLUTION: The electronic camera, which has a first state and a second state less in power consumption than that of the first state, includes: a display section on which determined information is displayed during the first state and no information is displayed during the second state; a display control section for displaying on the display section a confirmation screen requesting the input of confirmation information indicating whether to shift to the first state when shifting from the second state to the first state; an input section for receiving input of the confirmation information when the display control section displays the confirmation screen on the display section; and a state control section for switching the first state and the second state in accordance with the confirmation information inputted to the input section.
