PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire 2 capable of attaining weight reduction without impairing fitting property. SOLUTION: The tire 2 is provided with a pair of beads 8. Each of both beads 8 is provided with a core 24. The core 24 is formed by winding a strand 38 obtained by covering a topping rubber 44 on a hybrid cord 42 in a peripheral direction a plurality of times. The hybrid cord 42 is provided with: a wire 46 of which the material is steel; and a knitted layer 48 for covering the wire 46. The knitted layer 48 is constituted by plain stitch of a filament comprising an aramid fiber. Since the hybrid cord 42 having the wire 46 has appropriate rigidity, the tire 2 is excellent in the fitting property. The knitted layer 48 comprising the aramid fiber contributes to reduction of an amount of use of the wire 46. The tire 2 can attain light weight without impairing the fitting property.
