PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monopole antenna in which a radiation element and a ground plate are disposed on the same plane, and which can improve the directivity thereof. SOLUTION: This monopole antenna has a structure in which the radiation element 12 and the ground plate 11 are disposed on the same plane, wherein a first convex portion 24 formed by making a part of the periphery of the ground plate 11 convex and a second convex portion 25 formed by making a part of the periphery of the radiation element 12 convex, are provided, at which parts the radiation element 12 and the ground plate 11 face in proximity each other, and the edges at which the first convex portion 24 and the second convex portion 25 face each other are parallel to each other.
