PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a carotenoid in high yield from a cultured product of a carotenoid-producing bacterial strain. SOLUTION: There are provided a carotenoid separation method including a step of precipitating a carotenoid-containing concentrate under an acidic condition from the cultured product of the bacterial strain capable of producing the carotenoid. A carotenoid producing method includes a step of precipitating the carotenoid-containing concentrate under the acidic condition from the cultured product of the carotenoid-producing bacterial strain and recover the carotenoid from the resulting precipitate.
