PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of preventing the contamination of oil with air even if the oil is spattered by a balancer. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine, a cam chain chamber 57 housing a driving sprocket 58 and a part of a cam chain 59 wrapped around the driving sprocket and storing the oil in a lower part thereof is formed in an engine body 13, and a balancer 93 is arranged in the cam chain chamber at a position in which the balancer can spatter the oil stored in the lower part in the cam chain chamber. A wall 95 surrounding the balancer 93 from at least the upper part is provided in the engine body 13 so as to be brought into contact with the periphery of the balancer 93.
