<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light extraction efficiency in an organic EL light-emitting device using organic EL light emission. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The organic EL light-emitting device 1 has an anode 3, a cathode 5, an organic layer 4 between the anode 3 and the cathode 5, and a substrate 2 having translucency. Light from the organic layer 4 is output through the substrate 2. The substrate 2 has a plurality of holes 21 which are opened on its one face. The anode 3 and the organic layer 4 are stacked within the hole 21, with the organic layer 4 being on the opened side. In this way, light outputted from the organic layer 4 as well as light outputted from an end of the organic layer 4 is extracted into the substrate 2 for extraction into the atmosphere through the substrate 2.
