<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope device in which an illumination mirror is arranged in the vicinity of an objective lens; and to provide a mirror unit used for the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The microscope device 100 has an illumination optical system 13 which includes the objective lens 12 and guides light radiated from a light source 1 (laser head) to the objective lens 12 to irradiate a specimen 15 with the light via the objective lens 12. The illumination optical system 13 has: a converging lens 8 which converges the light radiated from the light source 1 on the surface of the pupil of the objective lens 12; and an illumination mirror 11 (mirror unit 30) which is arranged in the vicinity of the objective lens 12 and reflects the light radiated from the converging lens 8 to guide the light to the objective lens 12.
