SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING LOCATION INFORMATION OF A PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A location information providing method of a portable terminal and a system thereof are provided to continuously supply location information of the portable terminal whose main battery is cut-off. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(460) confirms whether a main battery is cut off. The control unit transmits location tracing information of a portable terminal using power of a coin cell battery to a network during the main battery cut-off. The control unit changes a monitoring period corresponding to a monitoring period coefficient which the network determines. An RF(Radio Frequency) module(440) receives system information from the network. The RF module processes message communicating according to a location update procedure between the portable terminal and the network.
