<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively and immediately inform one or more MFDs (multi-function devices) that usage rights have been repurchased. <P>SOLUTION: Users order any desired amounts of consumables from a plurality of MFDs, having "pay-as-you-go" capabilities (32). The plurality of MFDs automatically detect an authorization code on incoming print jobs via a detecting module (34).
