PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indirect lighting unit easily adaptable at a construction site to avoid the appearance of a cut-off line or achieve desired gradation. SOLUTION: The indirect lighting unit 1 includes a lighting box body 2 to be horizontally installed near a ceiling 21, a socket mounting plate 3, and dowels 4 as fitting protrusion members. To the surface of the socket mounting plate 3, a socket 10 of a fluorescent lamp 9 as a light source is fastened with screws, so that the socket can be arranged inside the lighting box body 2. On the reverse face of the socket mounting plate 3, fitting recessed portions 11 are formed at the wall side edge and at the freeze board side edge to fit the dowels 4 thereinto. In the opposed side faces of a back board 6 and a freeze board 8, a plurality of dowel holes 12 are formed along the vertical direction, as fitting holes into which the bases of the dowels 4 are detachably fitted.
