<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone exchange device that confirms the current state of a destination extension in advance through a pickup-side extension when an incoming call reaching the destination extension is picked up through the pickup-side extension, and thereby provides smooth telephone handling. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a user of an extension terminal DKT2 inputs reason information associated with his or her leaving the seat, for example, a central control unit 14 of a PBX 1 associates an extension number (1001) of the extension terminal DKT2 with the input seat-leaving reason information, and stores the result in a seat-leaving reason table 151 in a storage unit 15. When a key for displaying termination information is pressed on an extension terminal DKT8 in termination of the extension terminal DKT2, the seat-leaving reason table 151 is referred to, based upon the extension number of the extension terminal DKT2 being terminating to determine whether the seat-leaving reason information corresponding to the extension number of the extension terminal DKT2 is stored, thereby notifying an extension terminal DKT8 of originator information specifying the originator, the termination destination extension number, and seat-leaving reason information when seat-leaving reason information is stored.
