Provided is a solar cell from which a current can be taken out by moving carriers, while obtaining phonon bottleneck effects of quantum dots. The solar cell is provided with a first material layer having a wetting layer and quantum dots generated on the wetting layer; a second material layer having the first material layer formed on a surface thereof; and a negative electrode and a positive electrode. The negative electrode or the positive electrode is connected to the wetting layer. In the case where the negative electrode and the wetting layer are connected to each other, the negative electrode and the wetting layer are connected so that electrons which exist in the wetting layer can move to the negative electrode, and in the case where the positive electrode and the wetting layer are connected to each other, the positive electrode and the wetting layer are connected so that holes which exist in the wetting layer can move to the positive electrode. |
