The cell (100) has a metallic cup part (101) and a metallic cover part (102) that are connected with each other in a sealing manner. The cup part and the cover form a housing with an even base area (103) and an even cover area (104) parallel to the even base area. A positive electrode (105) and a negative electrode (106) are formed as flat layers within the housing. The electrodes are connected with each other by a laminar separator (107) and orthogonally aligned to the even base area and the even cover area. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a button cell.
