The invention relates to a hydraulic system for a handling machine (1) that comprises a mobile element (10) driven by first and second cylinders (13) mounted in parallel and mechanically coupled. The first cylinder is hydraulically driven by a first distribution valve (14). An accumulator (15) for accumulating the pressurised fluid is connected to a first chamber (131) of the second cylinder (13). The system includes a check valve (17) between the first chambers (121, 131), the check valve (17) enabling the passage of fluid from the first chamber (121) of the first cylinder (12) to the second chamber (131) of the second cylinder (13), and adjustment means (18) for disconnecting the accumulator (15) and thereby draining the first chamber (131) of the second cylinder (13). This makes it possible to automatically adjust the pressure in the accumulator based on the load level of the mobile element (10).
