<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam welding apparatus which performs laser beam groove welding of high quality with the use of a welding wire, and a laser beam welding method. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to the laser beam welding apparatus for welding a workpiece 1 with a groove. The laser beam welding apparatus comprises a wire feeding nozzle which feeds a welding wire 20 into the groove, a laser beam machining head 30 which condenses the laser beam, a processing machine which moves the irradiation position of the laser beam, and a shield nozzle which supplies a shielding gas for retaining an oxidation prevention atmosphere in a molten metal pool. The inner diameter of the shield nozzle is set to the width of the bottom of the groove plus 1.0 mm or more. The shield nozzle is located ahead of the laser beam machining head in the direction of weld progression, and the shielding gas pressure is set to 0.01 to 0.4 kPa at the outlet of the shield nozzle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
