PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power requirements of a mobile terminal which acquires positional information from a GPS and a wireless tag. SOLUTION: An electronic guide system includes: a wireless tag 2 for transmitting positional information periodically; and a mobile terminal equipped with a wireless tag receiving means 31 for receiving positional information from the wireless tag 2, a GPS receiving means 32 for receiving a GPS signal from a GPS satellite 1, a second control means 33 for calculating positional information from the GPS signal, a memory means 35 for storing the positional information, and a display/report means 34. The guide system starts the operation of the GPS receiving means 32, when the system receives information on gateways immediately after receiving information on a matter other than the gateways from the wireless tag 2, or stops the operation of the GPS receiving means 32 when the system receives information on a matter other than the gateways after receiving the information on the gateways from the wireless tag 2.
